01 Abstract

Votables is a mobile-first decentralized application built on the Solana blockchain that enables anyone to create and participate in secure, transparent votes. The platform aims to radically simplify decision-making for communities and friend groups by offering an intuitive interface and a seamless, email-based onboarding experience. Unlike traditional governance tools targeted at crypto-native users, Votables prioritizes accessibility while retaining the integrity of decentralized infrastructure. The initial version supports simple global yes/no proposals, with a roadmap that introduces group-based governance (DAOs), native tokens, and more sophisticated voting mechanisms.

02 Introduction

In a world increasingly governed by collective decisions—whether in DAOs, clubs, or communities—existing tools for decentralized voting are often too complex or inaccessible for mainstream users. Votables was created to challenge that norm. It offers a frictionless way to create and vote on proposals using only an email address, without needing to understand wallets, private keys, or blockchains. The mission is simple: make decentralized decision-making as intuitive as group chats.

While existing tools cater largely to crypto-native audiences, Votables aims to onboard the next wave of users by abstracting the technical complexity and focusing on what matters most—transparent, secure, and easy-to-use voting.

03 Platform

Votables allows anyone to create and vote on proposals from their mobile device. The app is designed for simplicity: users log in via email (enabled by Privy.io), browse open proposals, and cast a yes/no vote.

Key Features

Upcoming versions of the app will support more complex proposals and structured groups (DAOs) with token-based voting.

04 Technical Architecture

Votables leverages the Solana blockchain to ensure low-cost, high-speed, and secure voting operations. The app uses its own custom Solana programs written with Anchor, and interacts with the blockchain through program-derived addresses (PDAs).
